Missouri linebacker Sean Weatherspoon has been scheduled for a private workout Wednesday with the Atlanta Falcons on campus.

Weatherspoon met with Falcons owner Arthur Blank, general manager Tom Dimitroff and coach Mike Smith at the NFL scouting combine.

Weatherspoon posted a 40-inch vertical leap at the combine.

He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds at his campus Pro Day workout out, also bench pressing 225 pounds 35 times.

Last season, he recorded 104 tackles, 14 1/2 for losses and 4 1/2 sacks.

Two seasons ago, he registered 155 tackles.

He's regarded as one of the top all-around linebacker prospects.

Spoon's a good linebacker but we can pick up a pretty good linebacker or two later - like Dekoda Watson, Thaddeus Gibson from Ohio State, Rennie Curran, A.J Edds, and even O'Brien Schofield late in the draft to contribute in 2001 as he is injured and would be on IR until then.

If Spiller or Pouncey are not available, rather than select Weatherspoon at 19, I'd rather see the Falcons trade out of the first round for additional picks so they could pick up a guy like Lamarr Houston from Texas who can play both DT and DE, or Mike Neal from Purdue. Even after moving inside, Jamaal Anderson will be gone after next season, or sooner, and the Falcons will need defensive line help. Remember last year with Perry out, when JA got injured, the Birds had to do a lot of scrambling.
