The tragic death of San Diego Chargers great Junior Seau is the focus of a detailed report by Jill Lieber Steeg of the San Diego Union-Tribune and delves into what appeared to be irreconcilable issues going on in is life that eventually led to his suicide in May.

The way Steeg's report portrays Seau it was almost as if he led a double life, especially after his pro football career ended. On the one hand, he was an icon in San Diego and the Samoan community, a man always involved in the community and with his family.

However, on the other hand, Seau was like a great number of former pro football players who have difficulty transitioning away from the game into life in the real world. According to Steeg's report, some 75 percent of former NFL players will be addicted to alcohol or drugs, divorced or in financial trouble following their football careers. Seau had all three issues in his post-NFL life.

It is a lengthy and detailed piece about the life of a San Diego and football legend that ended tragically and too soon.
