OWINGS MILLS -- Baltimore Ravens injured rookie outside linebacker Sergio Kindle is scheduled to travel to Baltimore for a medical exam for his fractured skull at the beginning of September, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Kindle made the announcement on his Twitter account earlier today, saying he would be here next week.

We're told that Kindle is making excellent progress and is in good spirits whenever he talks to teammates and coaches.

Kindle fell down two flights of stairs in Texas on July 22, a few days before he was set to report to training camp.

The second-round draft pick remains unsigned and the team wants to know more about his medical outlook before signing him to a contract.

The former University of Texas standout is still regarded as extremely unlikely to play this season.
