When the Cleveland Browns were 2-8 a few weeks ago, it was widely assumed that new owner Jimmy Haslam would sweep away Coach Pat Shurmur in the housecleaning and have new team CEO Joe Banner hire his own guy.

But the Browns have suddenly won three straight for the first time since 2009 and posted their largest margin of victory since 2003 with Sunday's 30-7 crushing of the Kansas City Chiefs. Granted, in beating the Ben Roethlisberger-less Pittsburgh Steelers, the Oakland Raiders and the Chiefs, the Browns haven't exactly rolled past a murderer's row of teams. But beggars can't be choosers in the NFL.

"I knew two years ago when I got here there were going to be some tough days," Shurmur told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "Fortunately, in the last few weeks we found a way to have some good stuff happen."

Good enough to save his job? That is still up for debate.
