Tragedy struck Monday for the Oakland Raiders when defensive back Chris Johnson's sister was fatally shot and his mother wounded by a former boyfriend, according to

Johnson was not with the Raiders on Wednesday as he had returned to the Fort Worth, Texas, area to be with family.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Eugene Esters, who had previously lived with Johnson's 33-year-old sister Jennifer Johnson, fatally shot Jennifer Johnson and wounded Della Johnson, 53, who had come to Jennifer Johnson's apartment to help jumpstart her car. Della Johnson is expected to survive her attack.

Johnson is expected to rejoin the Raiders on Saturday in time for Sunday's game with the unbeaten Green Bay Packers.

Prayers and condolences go out to the Johnson family.
