Slumping Bears defense could be getting some help

The slumping Chicago Bears could be getting some help on defense in time for Sunday’s game at Arizona.

The Bears (8-6), losers of five of their last six games, need to win their final two games and then get some help to reach the NFC playoffs. So, they are desperate for all the help they can get.

Cornerback Tim Jennings, who leads the NFL with eight interceptions, and defensive tackle Henry Melton, who has six sacks, could be back for the game. Jennings has missed the previous two games with a dislocated right shoulder. Melton missed last week’s game with a clavicle injury.

“We just want to make sure that we prevent anything from happening,” Jennings said. “We’re going to do everything possible to make sure it stays in place.”

Jennings has been outfitted with a harness. Both players said they need to walk a fine line in trying to ensure they are not more seriously injured. Jennings and Melton has been limited the last two days in practice but both expressed optimism they would give it a shot against the Cardinals. Stay tuned.
