Vince Young is making a solid case to be named the Green Bay Packers' backup quarterback.
Competing with Graham Harrell for the job, Young completed 6 of 7 throws for 41 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 39 yards on three carries during a 17-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Young, 30, finished with a 130.7 passer rating.
Harrell was six for 13 for 49 yards for a 56.2 passer rating.
“The dimension of running, that's something we really wanted to see, Packers coach Mike McCarthy told reporters. “I think you're just seeing Vince getting more and more comfortable with what we're asking of him, particularly for as much as man-to-man as we were seeing.
“Very instinctive and made big plays and did very well on his first drive. It was unfortunate the high snap on second down on the second drive. I think Vince is one of the players that definitely took advantage of his opportunities tonight.”
