The San Francisco 49ers worked out well-traveled former first round offensive tackle Jason Smith, according to a league source.
Smith is a former second overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft, selected by the St. Louis Rams.
Smith, 27, was a backup last season with the New York Jets and has been cut this year by the Jets and the New Orleans Saints.
Smith has had issues with concussions and other injuries.
He hasn't realized the potential he displayed at Baylor where he was a standout blocker.
