Kansas City director of pro personnel Chris Ballard is not expected to be in the running for the Tampa Bay general manager position, according to a source. Ballard was considered a favorite for the job with the Buccaneers job last week after Tampa Bay hired Lovie Smith as head coach.
However, Smith’s control over personnel may leave the Chiefs with the ability to deny Ballard the chance to interview for the position. Technically, the job would not be considered a full general manager position, a source said.
Or as one source put it: “It would be the same job he has now.”
