Linebacker Javon Belcher has been identified as the Chiefs player involved in Saturday morning's double shooting, according to a source in Kansas City.
Police still have not released details of the matter, other than to say that there was a shooting of a woman at 54th and Crysler Avenue reported around 8 a.m. That was followed a short time later by a shooting in the parking lot at Arrowhead Stadium, in which Kansas City Police said involved a Chiefs player.
Belcher, 25, was in his fourth season from the University of Maine and had played in all 11 games for the Chiefs this season.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families involved in this tragedy and to the Chiefs organization.
The Chiefs are scheduled to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. There has been no word yet on whether Saturday's tragedy will affect the status of the game.
