First-round pick edges out Hank Fraley Aaron Wilson
The Cleveland Browns have named rookie first-round draft pick Alex Mack as their starting center over veteran Hank Fraley, according to a league source.
Fraley was listed atop the Browns' depth chart, but Mack started three of the Browns' preseason games.
Per our source, it was an extremely tough decision that was made even tougher by the fact that Fraley had an outstanding training camp.
Ultimately, the Browns' coaching staff made the call to go with the athletic rookie from Cal-Berkeley.
The Browns signed Mack to a deal that carries a maximum value of $15.17 million if he triggers several incentive clauses. So, they're looking for an immediate return on their hefty investment.
