The Arizona Cardinals are signing former Arizona State wide receiver Kevin Ozier to a three-year contract following a successful rookie minicamp, according to a league source.
Ozier was nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy given to the most outstanding player who started his career as a walk-on, which was won by Wisconsin wide receiver Jared Abbrederis.
Ozier eventually earned a scholarship after having to work several jobs to pay tuition and occasionally sleeping in his car when he didn't have a place to stay.
He earned his degree and became the first member of his family to graduate from college.
He caught 41 career passes for 671 yards and seven touchdowns.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder caught 23 passes for 354 yards and a touchdown last season.
