The Kansas City Chiefs worked out former New York Giants and New England Patriots tight end Jake Ballard, according to a league source.
He recently tried out for the Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens.
Ballard has been working his way back tull strength following micofracture knee surgery and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction that he underwent last year.
Ballard spent last year with the Patriots on injured reserve and was waived by the AFC East franchise in August.
Ballard got hurt in Super Bowl XLVI while playing for the Giants against the Patriots and was cut in June of 2012 with the thought that he would go unclaimed and they could place him on injured reserve.
However, the Patriots claimed him last year.
The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder played in three preseason games in August and didn't record a catch.
For his career, Ballard has caught 38 passes for 604 yards and four touchdowns.
