Marshall offensive tackle Daniel Baldridge visited the Jacksonville Jaguars and conducted a private workout for the New England Patriots, according to a source close to the program with knowledge of the situation.

The 6-foot-8, 312-pounder runs the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds.

He bench pressed 225 pounds 22 times and registered a 27 inch vertical leap and a 9-1 broad jump.

The second-team All-Conference USA selection is projected as a later round draft target by draft analysts.

Baldridge is a former high school basketball player who has been doing boxing training.

He has been working with former NFL offensive lineman Jim Sweeney since January.

My feeling going into the draft was that NE would stick with getting guys who fit their recent profiles. Vollmer was a mid round guy who really played up to things, this guy Baldridge seems similar. Good feet and movement for a big man, improved handfighting, ideal pass protector type.

That should allow them to get some key skill guys on offense early, along with prime defenders on their front line. Mike tagged them to try for Jahvid Best on his initial mock draft. Get true home run hitters so the playbook stays wide open, add midround value that fits the system, and specialists late. A lot of defensive tackles pegged in round two should line out on their picks, then they can can resume drafing profile types for a system fit, after adding some line depth on defense.
