Donovan McNabb wanted to be free of the Minnesota Vikings to clear his head.
He received his wish as he was waived Thursday, and McNabb didn’t find work immediately as an NFL source told the National Football Post that no team put in a claim for the veteran quarterback.
That means McNabb is a free agent on the street, free to negotiate with any team. The Vikings replaced him quickly, claiming Sage Rosenfels off waivers from the Miami Dolphins, according to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports. Rosenfels, who has played for the Vikings before, becomes the third quarterback on the roster behind Christian Ponder and Joe Webb.
The question now is whether or not McNabb will find work. He played poorly last season in Washington and struggled with the Vikings. Some speculated the Chicago Bears would have interest but they will go with Josh McCown as the backup to Caleb Hanie while Jay Cutler is injured.
