The Arizona defensive tackle had six sacks in 2009. Joe Fortenbaugh
Arizona Wildcats defensive tackle Earl Mitchell has upcoming workouts scheduled with the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals, according to a league source.
The 6’2”, 295-pounder racked up 44 tackles (31 solo) and six sacks for the 8-5 Wildcats in 2009. Mitchell amassed 78 stops, seven sacks and one forced fumble in three years at Arizona.
A spark plug with good burst off the line, Mitchell turned some heads at the combine last month when he ran between 4.68 and 4.75 in the 40-yard-dash, according to multiple sources. Mitchell also turned in a 10-yard-split of between 1.56 and 1.63, which put him at the top of the class among defensive tackles in Indianapolis.
Currently the NFP’s 24th ranked defensive tackle prospect, the knock against Mitchell is that he needs to work on using his hands to help disengage at the point of attack.
