The Atlanta Falcons have released former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Pat Angerer today, according to a league source.
The former Iowa standout has dealt with foot and knee injuries that have sidelined him for portions of the past two seasons, but was healthy and played well the past few weeks. So, his release comes as something of a surprise.
He ended last season on injured reserve with the Colts.
Angerer got his career off to a great start, tallying 88 tackles in 2010 and 148 in 2011. In 2012, that number dipped to 28 and in 2013 he finished with only 63 tackles in nine starts.
When healthy, Angerer is a tough, productive linebacker.
