Former Vanderbilt wide receiver Chris Boyd visited the Atlanta Falcons, according to a league source.

Boyd ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds at his private workout, improving upon his time of 4.73 at the NFL scouting combine where the 6-foot-4, 206-pounder had a right quadriceps injury.

Boyd is drawing grades from the third round to the sixth round.

Boyd was dismissed from the team after being charged for his role in allegedly helping to cover up an alleged rape perpetrated by four other football players. Boyd wasn't expelled from school, unlike the other four players, and remained on scholarship to complete his degree requirements.

Boyd entered a conditional guilty plea to a misdemeanor accessory charge and was sentenced to probation. His record will be cleared if he successfully completes probation. As a conditoion of his plea, Boyd agreed to testify against the others involved.

In just two seasons, Boyd caught 81 passes for 1,247 yards and 13 touchdowns. As a sophomore, Boyd caught 50 passes for 774 yards and five touchdowns.

Rather than transfer to another school, Boyd opted to declare early for the NFL draft.
