Ex-Bears linebackers coach has been coordinator before Brad Biggs
It’s not official but an NFL source says he expects former Chicago Bears linebackers coach Bob Babich to land with the Jacksonville Jaguars where he could get the title of defensive coordinator.
Babich spent the previous nine seasons with the Bears. He had the title of assistant head coach in 2006 and served as defensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008. The rest of the time he was the linebackers coach and was well regarded for his work.
Babich and new Jaguars coach Gus Bradley have a strong relationship. Babich was the head coach at North Dakota State from 1997 to 2002 and Bradley worked on his staff for the entire run.
Lovie Smith hired Babich to the NFL ranks in 2003 when he made him linebackers coach on Mike Martz’s St. Louis Rams team. We’ll see how this pans out but expectations are Babich and Bradley will reunite in Jacksonville and the word is he could get the coordinator gig.
