Defensive lineman inks with defending Super Bowl champs Aaron Wilson
Veteran free agent defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson has signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the New Orleans Saints, a league source confirmed.
Wilkerson also took a visit with the St. Louis Rams and drew interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before ultimately landing with the Saints.
Wilkerson, who is making steady progress from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, is expected to see a lot of playing time in the Saints' defensive rotation.
Wilkerson, 29, is a former Kansas City Chiefs sixth-round draft pick from the University of Oklahoma.
Last season with the Buccaneers, he started 15 games before tearing his ACL against the Saints on Dec. 27.
The 6-foot-2, 270-pounder finished the season with a career-high 46 tackles, six sacks and two forced fumbles.
For his career, Wilkerson has recorded 163 tackles, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Looks like the Saints are giving an honest attempt as far as FA is concerned to shore up some spots they'd otherwise need to scramble for in the draft. Still, there's no doubt they'll look at DE, DT, and OLB-WLB. Damn. How the heck am I not "filled in" on this Wilkerson cat? Did the Rams SUCK that bad last year????
Oh yeah, they did.
BRING ON JIMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
