Cornerback also scheduled to visit the Browns Aaron Wilson
Besides his pending visit with the Cleveland Browns in early April, University of Florida cornerback Joe Haden has at least two other upcoming meetings with NFL teams.
According to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation, Haden will also visit the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tennessee Titans.
Last week, Browns secondary coach Jerome Henderson traveled to Maryland for a private workout with the consensus All-American.
Haden is under heavy consideration from the Browns, who hold the seventh overall pick of the first round.
"I would really love it if we could get Joe there with the Browns and Eric Mangini and Mike Holmgren, and the Browns have shown a lot of interest in Joe," Shareef told the National Football Post in a telephone interview last week."Mangini can teach Joe a lot, and Joe would be very excited to play for the Browns. I feel like Joe is the next great corner in the NFL along the lines of a Nmandi Asomugha and a Darrelle Revis. Joe is the real deal.
"He started as a true freshman playing in the SEC against grown men and he excelled. All the teams have to do is check the tape. We don't have many shutdown corners in this league and Joe has that potential to be one."
The 5-foot-11, 193-pound Haden ran the 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds at the NFL scouting combine, a surprisingly slow time that's been attributed to a back sprain.
Then, Haden reassured NFL scouts with times ranging between 4.39 and 4.45 seconds at the Gators' Pro Day workout.
Shareef said that Haden had a strong workout for Henderson.
"I was very happy with the workout," Shareef said. "I liked it a lot. I liked the way he and the coach responded. I thought he performed well. The combine 40 wasn't what they were expecting, but he got it back at his Pro Day and his movement is exceptional."
Shareef said that Haden has several other workouts and visits scheduled with teams drafting within the top 15 selections.
"Joe is looking forward to it, Joe is enjoying the process," Shareef said. "Joe has a great personality. The teams I've spoken with, everybody raves about his personality. They really like him. This guy has the character and the attitude to go with his talent, and that's what these teams want to see."
