Veteran kicker joins AFC West team Aaron Wilson
Former Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs kicker Nick Novak has signed with the San Diego Chargers, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation.
Novak tried out for the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this year.
Novak played collegiately at the University of Maryland.
He has made NFL stops with the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs as well as the Cologne Centurions.
Novak was released by the Chiefs after missing a pair of field goals on Oct. 21, 2008. He kicked four field goals on Sept. 28, 2008 against the Denver Broncos.
For his NFL career, he has converted 19 of 30 field goals.
During the first game of his senior season, Novak became the ACC's all-time leading scorer, kicking a field goal allowing him to surpass Scott Bentley's career total of 324 points.
Novak ultimately ended his college career with 393 points, best in the league and fifth-best all-time amongst kickers in the NCAA.
