The New England Patriots have re-signed veteran wide receiver Julian Edelman.
Edelman rejoined the Patriots after visiting the San Francisco 49ers on Friday.
"Foxboro is home," Edelman later wrote on his Twitter account after word broke of his return. "Excited to be back. #grind"
Edelman declined a three-year contract offer from the Patriots prior to free agency.
The Patriots reached a deal with Edelman after scheduling a visit with Steve Smith, who cancelled the trip when he signed a three-year, $11 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
Last season, Edelman emerged as a reliable threat with 105 catches for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns as he became Tom Brady's most consistent target.
