The Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms with backup quarterback Chad Pennington, according to a league source.

Per a source, it's a one-year contract worth $2.5 million.

Pennington had attempted to gain a no-trade clause, but the Dolphins weren't going to budge.

Pennington is slated to back up Chad Henne.

The Dolphins also have Tyler Thigpen and Pat White.

Good! One of the smartest QB's in the league and he stays in Miami. Let's see which 3rd stringer gets moved. I'm a Pat White supporter but realize, after how he was used, he wasn't the best choice for the Dolphins. The Pennington signing is great because I'm still not completely sold on Henne. If they draft a QB each year, as Ireland suggested when he was hired, Pennington will be a great mentor. I hope he stays with the Dolphins as a coach when he retires from playing.

4 QBs on the roster, so somebody has to go. Puh-lease let it be Pat White, who is too small, slow and scared to play QB, WR or RB. It was a failed experiment.

Pennington will be a player/coach and has a legit shot at being a QB coach when he's done wearing a helmet.
