WESTMINSTER, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens are involved in an ongoing discussion with veteran free agent cornerback Frank Walker, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
Walker has other options. It's believed that one of the teams is the Indianapolis Colts.
The Ravens need depth after losing Domonique Foxworth for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
The Ravens envision the player they sign as providing a solid backup, not a starting candidate.
Walker was prone to penalties last season, particularly pass interference and defensive holding.
Walker has always been a player that Ravens coach John Harbaugh respects for his toughness and ability to run and play on special teams.
"Sure, Frank would have a shot," Harbaugh said. "Frank knows our scheme. He's got some options, teams he's talking to right now. He's one guy of a lot of guys we're looking at."
Harbaugh said that Shawn Springs would fall into that category as well. Fred Smoot and Anthony Henry have also been mentioned as potential candidates.

For the love of God Ozzie and Co. do not bring back this miserable excuse of a "football" player. Frank Walker would not know how to cover a paper bag if it was yelling at him. Seriously, dude can tackle though but he is not a linebacker he is supposedly a "cornerback" but Walker ruins a team, let him go to the Colts and see how long they keep that walking pass interference penalty maker.
This is why I hate the Ravens sometimes. How can a team with serious super bowl aspirations expect to win with a freaking Frank Walker. U guys can't be serious!!!! This is beyond stupid and if the Ravens keep up with this bone head decisions, I might have to find another team once Ray Lewis retires. Yes I'm that pissed! The only reason we haven't grabbed a super bowl in the past few years is our atrocious corner play, and Ozzie just can't seem to address this problem. We haven't had a cornerback worth a nickel since Mcalister retired. Pease, for the love of everything, get it together!!!!!!!
Matthew and KC, good riddance!
If you don't realize that this team is a superbowl contender because of Ozzie Newsome then we don't want you. Every team has a weakness. Losing Foxworth, and potentially Ed Reed before the season even begins is an unfortunate event that mandates that the Ravens look at every option. At least Frank already knows the scheme.
@Chad Oh no I agree, Walker may know our scheme but c'mon, the Ravens can find another solid vet who could learn the scheme, like a Fred Smoot or even go the old fashion way like the Ravens do best and look at our team from within, KJ Gerad is a solid young kid who deserves a shot. Also, why not think about switching Nakamura to corner and letting Zbi stay at safety while Ed recovers. Our secondary may be weak but our defense is still a top 10 even a top 5 and as long as T Sizzle regains his old form we'll be fine.
P.S. with how the Ravens are so little talked about I wouldn't be so fast to judge other Raven fans Chad, just voicing my displeasure at bringing in Frank "First Cut" Walker not about the team. We need to keep the flock strong not fight among ourselves Chad. Go Ravens!!!!
Is this some kind of cruel joke? This is a worse decision than England starting that wanker Robert Green.
Maybe some people are happy to be superbowl contenders on paper every year, rather than address what has obviously been the teams achilles heel for the past few years. What has been the outcome when we run into peyton manning in the playoffs for the past few years......our garbage cornerbacks completely expose us. Anything worth doing, is worth doing well......so again I insist that this madness has to stop, u can't build a solid team and then leave yourself completely exposed by having crappy corners. Frank walker is a waste and Foxworth is not far from that either.
for all yall haters frank walker will have a great season this year. hopefully its with da ravens but if not i feel sorry for mason and stallworth when he signs with da colts.
I wish him only the best. Get well, young man.
This stuff happens, didn't cause Terrell Davis to retire, as that actually was the knee injury he sustained while tackling a Jet on an INT - that being said he was always and the donkeys cognizant of this issue with Daivs as well...migraines and nuerological problems are real for damn sure and don't make an NFL players life any easier - and seriously "karma" - give it a rest already - Favre's not the devil, hasn't been sighted hanging with Lucifer or sacrificying any virgins - well lately anyway - that was the "before PG Favre" that's marketed for mass consumption...

The biggest problem is that we’re short on numbers,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “And Dan’s a guy who was with us all through the offseason. So, he knows how we work. He knows the offense.
