Former New York Giants WR joins AFC North franchise Aaron Wilson
OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens have struck a deal with veteran free agent wide receiver David Tyree, according to a league source.
The former New York Giants wideout tried out for the Ravens on Monday, his second tryout with Baltimore since being cut by New York.
Tyree helped the Giants win the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots by famously catching the football against his helmet.
The Ravens also tried out Ronald Curry on Monday. They cut tight end Tony Curtis to make room for Tyree on the roster.
Tyree was cut by the Giants during their final major roster cutdown after being sidelined for their final two preseason games. Since being cut, he has also drawn interest from the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Rams.
Listed at 6-foot, 206 pounds, Tyree has caught 54 career passes for 650 yards and four touchdowns while excelling in kick coverage and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2005.
In 2006, he caught a career-high 19 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
The former Syracuse player dealt with numerous injuries, including knee, hamstring and groin problems during training camp.
He spent last year on injured reserve due to a knee injury after beginning the season on the physically unable to perform list.
Three years ago, he signed a five-year, $6.5 million contract.
