Source: Wofford safety Tommy Irvin had private workout for Cardinals

Wofford All-American strong safety Tommy Irvin recently conducted a private workout for Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton and scout Don Corzine, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

An All-Southern Conference selection, Irvin worked out for 13 NFL teams on campus.

The 6-foot, 209-pounder bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times and registered a 33 1/2 vertical leap and a 10-foot and 1/8 broad jump.

He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.67 and 4.,73 seconds with a 3.96 short shuttle and a 6.92 three-cone drill.

Per a source, Irvin performed workouts for the New York Giants and had good range and change of direction.

Attending the workout: Jacksonvillle Jaguars, New York Giants scouting director Marc Ross, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots.
