With tomorrow signifying the end of the road for many NFL coaches who have been on the hot seat the last month of the season, sources have told the NFP’s Michael Lombardi that Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio could indeed be on his way out.
According to Lombardi’s sources close to the Jags, owner Wayne Weaver “is not happy with how (Del Rio) treats people, his work ethic, his involvement in the community and the direction of the franchise. It’s been said the Jags don’t have the money to fire Del Rio, but if Weaver does have an interest in selling the team, hiring a big-name coach is the best way to add value to the franchise. There may be an initial cost, but bringing in the right coach will increase the overall value of the team.”
Jacksonville has struggled down the stretch of the season with three straight losses, including last week’s 35-7 defeat in New England. The 7-8 Jaguars are in Cleveland today to take on the Browns.
