Former New England Patriots veteran free agent running back LeGarrette Blount has agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers that includes a $950,000 signing bonus, according to league sources.
There's a $150,000 incentive that pushes the deal to $4 million if Blount rushes for 800 yards this season, per a source.
Blount visited the Steelers today.
He drew interest from several teams during free agency, including the Patriots and Baltimore Ravens.
The 6-foot, 250-pound Blount has a powerful running style.
Blount, 27, rushed for 772 yards and seven touchdowns last season for New England.
That included 189 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries in the regular-season finale against the Buffalo Bills.
In a playoff victory over the Indianapolis Colts, Blount rushed for 166 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries.
The former Oregon standout has rushed for 2,711 yards and 20 touchdowns and has averaged 4.7 yards per carry for his career in four NFL seasons.
He has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As a rookie, he rushed for 1,007 yards and six touchdowns for the Buccaneers.
