Jacksonville Jaguars star running back Maurice Jones-Drew is expected to miss the remainder of the preseason due to a minor knee injury, according to several NFL sources with knowledge of the situation.

It's been rumored that Jones-Drew recently underwent an arthroscopic procedure to clean out his knee from wear and tear.

Per one source, Jones-Drew had been dealing with lingering meniscus issues.

According to one source, Jones-Drew would be able to play as soon as this weekend's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if it were a regular-season game.

However, the Jaguars are proceeding with caution with their featured back.

Jones hasn't practiced all week and has insisted to reporters that he's not hurt.

"It's like Allen Iverson said, it's practice," Jones-Drew said Thursday. "There's no worries."

At this point, there's no cause for concern as far as his availability for the regular season.

Of course, the injury might give fantasy football owners some pause when it comes to selecting Jones-Drew in their respective drafts.

However, we're told that this injury isn't expected to hamper Jones-Drew on a long-term basis.

I love when they say if it were a regular season game he'd play. But it's NOT, so the statement is meaningless at best and a lie at worst.
