The Pittsburgh Steelers have activated veteran safety Mike Mitchell from the physically unable to perform list.

Mitchell passed his physical today. He had been sidelined with a groin injury.

Mitchell was signed to a five-year, $25 million contract in March as the Steelers' biggest free agent acquisition.

Mitchell previously played for the Carolina Panthers.
