Quarterback expected to be punished by NFL on Wednesday Aaron Wilson
The Pittsburgh Steelers are being proactive when it comes to embattled quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are fielding "trade feelers" from other teams and haven't "ruled out" possibly moving the NFL star to another team.
Roethlisberger, who was investigated and not charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year-old Georgia woman, is expected to be punished by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday.
The report doesn't indicate what sort of compensation the Steelers would expect or might be offered.
Per the report, the Steelers aren't taking the same stance they did with troubled wide receiver Santonio Holmes.
Holmes was traded to the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick. And the Steelers were planning to cut Holmes if they couldn't trade him.
Roethlisberger's contract is apparently trade-friendly.
Would a fresh start be a good idea for both Roethlisberger and the Steelers? Perhaps so. At this point, though, they seem to be willing to give him one more chance.
