Steelers rookie Le’Veon Bell impressing

Promising rookie running back Le'Veon Bell took work with the Pittsburgh Steelers' first-team offense.

It's an interesting development considering that the Steelers have incumbent backs like Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer.

Bell took most of the work in the first contact drills, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

What did Steelers coach Mike Tomlin have to say about it to reporters? He told them not to make a big deal out of it, adding: “But I'm sure you guys will run with it, so go ahead.”

Bell is a second-round draft pick from Michigan State who could emerge quickly as the guy.

.”He just wanted me to compete,” Bell said. “I'm a rookie, a running back, I have to pass-protect. That's something he wants me to see so he put me against some of his better players.”

How did Bell do?

“He's a hard worker,” said outside linebacker Jarvis Jones, the Steelers' first-round draft pick. “He's going to bring it every play. We're trying to tough him up.”
