The Pittsburgh Steelers have immediately installed rookie running back Le'Veon Bell with the first-string offense heading into the preseason opener Satuday night against the New York Giants.

The starters are slated to play up to a dozen snaps.

“Don't be surprised if you see Le'Veon getting some snaps with those guys,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. “I think he has earned that. I think how he is running the ball speaks for itself.”

Bell will see plenty of playing time overall to evaluate him.

“He, like a lot of guys, we need to get a lot of exposure to,” Tomlin said.

Bell is a big, strong back who's competing with playing time with Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman.

Bell has the potential to be an every-down back.
