Steelers sign Brandon Renkart, place Andre Frazier on reserve/injured list

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed linebacker Brandon Renkart to a one-year deal and placed linebacker Andre Frazier on the reserve/injured list.

Renkart (6-foot-2, 245 pounds) was originally signed a free agent by the New York Jets two years ago before being waived prior to the start of the regular season.

He spent time on the Jets’ practice squad in 2008 and then was released following training camp last year. Renkart spent time on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice last season and then was signed to the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad on Dec. 30, 2009. He was recently waived by the Colts.

Frazier was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2005 and then spent time on the team’s active roster. He also has played for the Cincinnati Bengals.
