In the wake of the controversy that still swirls around general manager Jeff Ireland for asking Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute during a predraft official visit, Miami Dolphins team owner Stephen Ross said he considers the matter a closed issue.

The Dolphins, who have released a statement from Ireland apologizing to Bryant and a previous statement from Ross, have released what they've said is their final word on the situation.

Bryant has said that the Dolphins' version of events claiming that he said his father was a pimp is a lie.

Here's the entire statement from Ross:

“I have looked into the matter of Jeff Ireland and the questions asked of former Oklahoma State receiver Dez Bryant and I have spoken to many people in and outside our organization who were directly and indirectly involved. Jeff Ireland has apologized personally and publicly to Dez Bryant.

"We are going to take a hard look at our interview practices and we will make improvements that will allow us to get the important information we need about players in whom we are making a major investment, but without being insensitive.

"Jeff Ireland is a man of great capability and integrity and he is well deserving of my continued confidence. I consider the matter closed.”

Ross might consider the matter closed, but this one is still drawing a lot of heated media attention.

From his standpoint, Bryant has said he has accepted Ireland's apology and is moving on now that he's with the Dallas Cowboys.
