Still not finished, Seattle signs Michael Bennett

The LVH sports book here in Las Vegas released their updated Super Bowl odds this past Monday with the Seattle Seahawks listed at a comfortable 8/1.

Three days later and that number may need to be adjusted once again.

In the wake of acquiring Pro Bowl wide receiver Percy Harvin and defensive end Cliff Avril, the Seattle front office got back to work on Thursday, agreeing to terms with free agent defensive end Michael Bennett on a one-year, $5 million deal.

Bennett was scheduled to meet with the Dolphins on Thursday, but apparently the Seahawks swooped in and put a better offer on the table.

For Seattle, the team adds yet another pass rusher who is coming off a career-best 9.0-sack effort in 2012. For Bennett—who may be disappointed in what the market had to offer—it gives the pass rusher a chance to impress while playing for a Super Bowl contender one year before jumping back into the free agent pool.

You’ve got to tip your hat to the Seahawks at this point. After last year’s postseason run, the organization clearly felt they were getting close to winning a championship. So they went out this offseason and did everything in their power to get even better.
