The timing of Bills coach Dick Jauron's dismissal on Tuesday drew puzzlement from former Buffalo coach and GM Marv Levy and from Bills DT Marcus Stroud.
"I saw the furor that was stirring around the team but I'm still a little bit surprised it took place at this juncture," Levy told the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.

The 3-6 Bills ousted Jauron after almost four years of underachieving. He posted 7-9 records in his first three seasons.
Firing a coach during the season isn't too unusual, but such dismissals often occur at the team's bye week. The Bills jettisoned Jauron after their first game back from bye.
And Stroud agreed with Sirius XM host Pat Kirwan's analysis that firing the coach now makes little sense. The Bills, who dismissed offensive coordinator Turk Schonert days before the season, waited about four hours before naming defensive coordinator Perry Fewell as interim coach.
Stroud, in an appearance on Sirius XM radio, he and his teammates didn't do enough to support Jauron.
"I feel like we let him down a little bit," he said, "as far as us not being able to produce and do the things we should have done to help the coach keep his job."
"Mr. (Ralph) Wilson (the team owner) is the guy who pays the bills around here," Stroud said. "Any time he wants a change, you have to adhere to that."

I don't know much about Dick Jauron, but I know he declined a penalty at the Titans game Sunday that had us ALL shaking our heads.
Third down play. Titans didn't get it. I believe there was a 10-yard holding penalty called against the Titans. Jauron declined the penalty. We kicked a field goal. If he had accepted the penalty, moved us back 10 yards, the likelihood of us converting the third down was slim and it would have put us out of FG range. He would have likely saved his team 3 points. At the time, the game was close.
If there are many calls like that in his history, then he deserved to be fired.
