Former Bengals star adjusts to being bit player for Patriots. Terry McCormick
Chad Ochocinco loves the spotlight.
And there is no bigger football spotlight than the Super Bowl. But the New England Patriots wide receiver has barely been a blip on the radar as he plays for the first championship of his NFL career.
Is Ochocinco, who for years was a free spirit and sometimes a malcontent with the Cincinnati Bengals, upset that he has become an afterthought this season in New England?
"No!" he told the Associated Press adding an expletive and a smile, "because I've done the other thing over and over."
"I'm happy, but the competitive side of me is (angry)," he said. "Does that make sense?"
In a way, yes. Ochocinco loves being the center of attention, but it appears that now that he has finally gotten a taste of winning, maybe he likes that better - even if it's not exactly the way he envisioned it.

It is a shame that so many great players in the NFL never get to a Super Bowl and unfortunately this clown does. He admits that he didn't do what he was supposed to do during his time with the Bengals and that shows with his inability to run routes with the Patriots. The Bengals went to the playoffs twice during his 10 years there, so he had an opportunity to get the the Super Bowl sooner than this.
My only hope is that some day professional sports organizations start getting rid of athletes that can't appreciate the opportunity they have been given and take advantage of it. We read today that TO is broke. We'll read this about Chad in another 2-3 years.
