Taiwan Jones: Raiders have different feel heading into 2014

The Oakland Raiders have been a bit of a laughing stock for quite a while.

It's been a while since their last winning season, which came in 2002, when Oakland lost to Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl. Sure, there have been two 8-8 seasons in 2010 and 2011 but those ended without a trip to the postseason.

However, cornerback Taiwan Jones thinks things will be different this year. Speaking to the team's official website, Jones said the addition of veterans LaMarr Woodley, Justin Tuck and others has given the franchise a needed spark to overcome the issues that's plagued them the past few years.

“When you have veterans that have been in the game a long time and that have been able to accomplish the goals that we’re trying to accomplish this year, it definitely feels good because you get to see and hear advice from those guys and hear them say that we’re close and that it’s possible,” Jones said. “It makes you want to work that much harder. You see how hard they’re working and it just carries on. It’s a ripple effect for everyone.”

Jones is right in that there hasn't been much of a veteran presence in Oakland in recent years. Perhaps that changes in 2014, with the Raiders hoping to finally return to the postseason.
