Rookie already knows 80 to 85 percent of playbook from time at Texas A&M. Terry McCormick
With his college coach, Mike Sherman, as his offensive coordinator, rookie Ryan Tannehill has been a quick study in the Miami Dolphins playbook.
Tannehill estimates that he knows "80 to 85 percent" of the Dolphins playbook, in part because about 65 to 70 percent of it is similary to the Aggies manual in college, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Dolphins coach Joe Philbin says Tannehill, generally viewed as the team's quarterback of the future, will get an equal chance to win the starting job as a rookie as he competes with veterans Matt Moore and David Garrard.
"Those guys have been working hard since April 10," Philbin said of Moore and Garrard. "At some point that knowledge is going to even itself out, and the difference is going to be the decision-making, the accuracy, the playmaking ability."
