NFL draft prospect Taylor Lewan has been charged with three misdemeanors stemming from his alleged role in a fight on Dec. 1, 2013, according to a report from The Ann Arbor News.
Lewan is scheduled for an arraignment on April 8 at 9 a.m. The publication state he'll be charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault or assault and battery.
Lewan allegedly assaulted two Ohio State fans the evening after the Buckeyes defeated Michigan 42-41.
Previously, Lewan, regarded as a top five offensive tackle entering this year's draft, said he was trying to break up a fight and wasn't involved.
This isn't Lewan's first off-field issues. When teammate and former Michigan kicker Brendan Gibbons was expelled for the university due to an alleged sexual assault, it was reported that Lewan texted the accuser threatening messages so she wouldn't press charges.
Lewan denied doing so at the NFL combine.
“I can say that I’ve never said those things," Lewan said this past February. "I’ve said a lot of dumb things in my life, but those are not things that I’ve said, and like I said before, that’s definitely a very touchy subject. I would never disrespect a woman like that. I like to consider myself a guy that likes to hold doors instead of threaten people. That’s not the kind of person I am.”
