OWINGS MILLS, Md – The Baltimore Ravens hammered out a four-year, $3.385 million maximum value contract with second-round nose guard Terrence “Mount” Cody, reaching an agreement in principle Sunday night on the eve of players reporting to training camp.

The Ravens have booked Cody’s travel and he’s expected to formally sign the contract Monday in advance of rookies, quarterbacks and selected veterans reporting to McDaniel College. The first practice is scheduled for Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4, 350-pound defensive lineman received a 6.3 percent increase in his total guaranteed money at his slot, a figure of $1.595 million. That includes his signing bonus as well as a one-timer clause that Cody can trigger through minimum playing time requirements.

Like the majority of second-round contracts, the deal doesn’t include a fourth-year escalator clause.

Negotiations heated up over the weekend for the consensus All-American nose guard from Alabama, culminating in a deal Sunday night after the final contract language was reviewed.

Cody is expected to compete for immediate playing time at nose guard, where he’ll work in tandem with veteran Kelly Gregg.

The former Crimson Tide standout drew impressive reviews from the coaching staff and older teammates during the Ravens' offseason minicamps.

“Terrence is a big, strong guy who uses his strength and hands well,” said center Matt Birk, a six-time Pro Bowl selection. “He’s more than just big. He’s got a little wiggle to him. He’s impressive so far.”

Cody has weighed as much as 400 pounds in the past, but his weight has been improving lately through better conditioning and nutrition. Cody weighed 370 pounds at the Senior Bowl all-star game this winter and was down to 350 pounds this spring.

“I’m a big guy, but I can move around and do a lot of things,” Cody said following a minicamp practice. “I pride myself on being an athlete. When I put my mind to it, nobody can stop me. To have the nickname, ‘Mount,’ suits me.”

Somewhere this morning Ray-Ray is smiling - this with Ngata (sic) has just recreated the magic w/Seregusa & Adams - this may give Lewis 2 or 3 more seasons...seriously...

No doubt matrix. I LOVE how Ozzie & Co draft on Defense esp at the NOSE TACKLE position. I wish my Niners would learn from this these guys & nab a real 2-gapping dominant franchise NT for our 3-4 (high kudos to Franklin though for the job he's doing.)

Cody a potential steal in the 2nd RD? I'd say yes IF he's motivated like I've read this pre-TC & every off-season/TC after that. Word has it he's taking his diet/weight management/Pro Career seriously. If he ends up being a franchise NT similar to Ngata & their previous one (the prior wrestler, can't remember his name) I'd say he's a steal. Franchise dominant 2-gap type NT's are almost as rare as true franchise QB's. How many are there..only a handful in the league right? (Ngata, Wilfork, Jenkins, Hampton, JWilliams recently released from SD to name a few).

I keep getting confused with Baltimore..are they a full time 3-4, 4-3, or do they mix it up & play a hybrid? Anyways, if Cody can be a franchise or impact 3-4 NT or 4-3 DT I think he'd be a borderline steal since he was a high risk pick with the known weight problems. Long ways to go yet..again I've been briefly suckered in the non-pads pre-TC hype. Finally though some REAL news is coming. The waits been forever..YESSSS TC IS HERE BABY!!!!

If the "Mountain" can keep his weight down his agility will come through. Watching him on tape this big guy can really move & he's got some quickness. Not only can he hold & stack the point on running downs but he's got some pass rush ability. Keep the weight in check & everything should come together (quicks + stamina) = he could be a 3-down player.

Eh, not sure about that weight issue, there have been plenty of guys that could play very effectively above 350lbs (by plenty mean of course the "freaks of nature" like the Frig, Adams, Wilfork as a few examples)...the real question will be can he stay healthy, these freaks are often susceptible to injury, and to me that's what's going to define his effectiveness, and of course realize thats for all NFL players - yet, the really big monsters for whatever reason seem to have the toughest time staying on the field...

Matrix - I forget which year in Bama but he was up to 380 at one point. That's what I'm talking about.

I think he'll probably be just fine in the 350'ish range like you say. I'm thinking 340 for him (or close to it) & he's in prime condition.

He has been know to play close to 400 pounds. He will probably play over 350 lbs this year.

@ TPF.com - 400 LBS????? Man I thought I could put the grub down!!

UNBELIEVABLE a guy at 400 lbs can move (run?) let alone play ball.

I'm telling you the guy has very good to great feet & agility.

Take it to 350 Cody & you can be a stud. At 340'ish you're headed towards a ProBowl/All Pro year if you can get the technique & plays down. (Probably more likely in his 2nd year)

Sterling sliver jewelry, particularly bracelets, is a staple of fashionable women everywhere. This type of pandora beads is durable yet so beautiful. The versatility is outstanding; it goes with every outfit whether with jeans or with a designer gown. For instance, movie star Sandra Bullock wore a silver cuff bracelet to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards in May 2009. A silver cuff bracelet makes an audacious statement, yet it is lightweight and is flexible so that it can fit a variety of wrist sizes. Another popular type of bracelets is the silver charm bracelet. There are many shapes and designs for the charms that are attached to the bracelet.

I wish him only the best. Get well, young man.
This stuff happens, didn't cause Terrell Davis to retire, as that actually was the knee injury he sustained while tackling a Jet on an INT - that being said he was always and the donkeys cognizant of this issue with Daivs as well...migraines and nuerological problems are real for damn sure and don't make an NFL players life any easier - and seriously "karma" - give it a rest already - Favre's not the devil, hasn't been sighted hanging with Lucifer or sacrificying any virgins - well lately anyway - that was the "before PG Favre" that's marketed for mass consumption...
