The Houston Texans announced that they have agreed to terms with outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus on his rookie contract.

As stipulated in the new CBA, rookie deals for first rounders are four-year contracts with an option for a fifth year.

Mercilus played defensive end at the University of Illinois, but will play the outside linebacker spot in the Texans' 3-4 scheme.
