The Houston Texans have fired veteran defensive coordinator Wade Phillips following his meeting with new coach Bill O'Brien.
"Thanks to McNair family and great Texan fans and most all our players," Phillips wrote on Twitter. "It was wonderful being home. I wish the best to all."
Phillips was the interim coach for three games after Gary Kubiak was fired, losing all three games.
The Texans finished 2-14, the worst record in the NFL.
O'Brien is expected to hire his own staff.
The Texans have also fired offensive coordinator Rick Dennison
Former Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns coach Romeo Crennel has been mentioned as a potential defensive coordinator candidate for O'Brien.
