The Houston Texans have named Ryan Fitzpatrick their starting quarterback.
He was named the starter over rookie Tom Savage and returning veterans Case Keenum and T.J. Yates.
"He earned it," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "He earned it with his preparation. He earned it with his accuracy."
Fitzpatrick was signed to a two-year, $7.5 million contract in March that included $4 million guaranteed.
Fitzpatrick, 31, passed for 2,454 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season in 11 games with nine starts for the Tennessee Titans.
