Fourth-rounder signs, Webster, Stross let go Aaron Wilson
The Houston Texans have signed fourth-round linebacker Darryl Sharpton to a four-year contract.
Sharpton received the standard base salaries of $320,000, $405,000, $490,000 and $575,000, a fourth-year escalator clause and a signing bonus of $534,940, according to a league source.
His escalator clause in 2013 is equal to either the low restricted free agent tender of $1.42 million.
The Texans also waived safety Aaron Webster and waived-injured wide receiver Trey Stross.
Sharpton was selected with the 102nd overall pick out of Miami.
For the Hurricanes, he started 30 games, including 18 at middle linebacker, nine at strongside linebadcker and three on the weak side. During his career, he recorded 255 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, one forced fumble and nine pass deflections.
As a senior, Sharpton started at middle linebacker and led the team with a career-high 106 tackles.
