The Bills be without quarterback E.J. Manuel this Sunday against the Dolphins, coach Doug Marrone announced on Wednesday.

Manuel is dealing with a sprained knee that was initially deemed not that serious. However, the Bills appear to be exhibiting caution with their first-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft.

With Manuel ruled out, quarterback Thad Lewis will start in his place. Lewis has completed 62 of 103 passes for 652 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions when filling in for Manuel this season.

Manuel is expected to return for the season finale in Week 17.
