The NFP Power Rankings
Every Tuesday, the National Football Post brings you our weekly power rankings: a breakdown of how we stack up the league.
Week 10 (previous rankings included)
1. (1) New Orleans Saints: 8-0
The Saints showed they are never out of a ball game with a 17-0 run to close out the contest and send the Panthers home with a loss.
2. (2) Indianapolis Colts: 8-0
The Colts may have survived at home, but that is what playoff teams do when they are on the ropes.
3. (3) Minnesota Vikings: 7-1
The Vikings picked up an entire game on Green Bay and Chicago by taking Sunday off.
4. (4) New England Patriots: 6-2
Randy Moss proved yet again that he can eat up man coverage—and the Dolphins lost because of it.
5. (5) Pittsburgh Steelers: 6-2
Pittsburgh might be playing the best football of any team in the league right now, and their defense is without question the best unit in the NFL.
6. (7) Cincinnati Bengals: 6-2
Cedric Benson rushed for 100 yards as the Bengals swept the Ravens—and Pittsburgh is next on the list.
7. (9) Dallas Cowboys: 6-2
Tony Romo looks like the best quarterback in the NFC East and he has a first-place team to show for it.
8. (6) Denver Broncos: 6-2
Two straight losses have brought up some questions about McDaniels’ team, but it isn’t time to panic in Denver.
9. (12) Atlanta Falcons: 5-3
With Michael Turner producing, the Falcons look like a sure bet to play on wild-card weekend.
10. (8) Philadelphia Eagles: 5-3
Without the big play, the Eagles look like a .500 team.
11. (13) Arizona Cardinals: 5-3
Without Anquan Boldin, the Cardinals still scored on their first six possessions in Chicago.
12. (15) San Diego Chargers 5-3
Someone better tell Denver to look over their shoulder, because the Bolts seem to be back.
13. (10) Baltimore Ravens: 4-4
Is it time to worry in Baltimore? It might be after they were shredded up front by the Bengals.
14. (11) Houston Texans: 5-4
The Texans had a chance, but too many mistakes cost them a chance to get their first-ever win at Indy.
15. (19) NY Jets: 4-4
The Jets get back to work, and we get to see what Mark Sanchez has for the November push.
16. (14) NY Giants: 5-4
Four straight losses have exposed the Giants. They are making mistakes that we aren’t used to seeing under Tom Coughlin.
17. (17) Miami Dolphins: 3-5
The Dolphins can compete with any team in this league, but they always are one play away.
18. (16) Green Bay Packers: 4-4
Turnovers, crucial mistakes in the kicking game and coaching have this team back to .500.
19. (18) Chicago Bears: 4-4
Lovie Smith has his hands full with a defense that lacks playmakers.
20. (21) Carolina Panthers: 3-5
The Panthers can run the ball on any defense in the NFC, but they folded in the fourth quarter in New Orleans.
21. (22) Jacksonville Jaguars: 4-4
How much longer will Maurice Jones-Drew be able to carry this team without any help?
22. (25) Tennessee Titans: 2-6
The Titans have won two straight under Vince Young, but the credit should go to Chris Johnson, who is tearing up the league.
23. (20) San Francisco 49ers: 3-5
Four straight losses should have Mike Singletary looking at the QB position once again with the Bears coming to town.
24. (24) Seattle Seahawks: 3-5
Seattle came back to beat the Lions, but they shouldn’t have been down by 17 in the first place.
25. (23) Buffalo Bills: 3-5
The Bills come off the bye and look to have Trent Edwards back under center. Will it make a difference?
26. (26) Oakland Raiders: 2-6
The Raiders get back to work and look to sweep the Chiefs in a battle of the AFC West basement.
27. (27) Kansas City Chiefs: 1-7
Getting rid of Larry Johnson was good for this franchise, but it won’t lead to many wins this season.
28. (28) Washington Redskins: 2-6
Will Jason Campbell physically last the entire season? He is taking a beating in the pocket.
29. (32) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 1-7
The Bucs can feel good this week after pulling the upset of the season behind Josh Freeman at home against the Packers.
30. (29) St. Louis Rams: 1-7
It could get bad on Sunday in St. Louis as the Rams host Drew Brees and the Saints.
31. (30) Detroit Lions: 1-7
Five interceptions from your QB makes it hard to win football games on any level.
32. (32) Cleveland Browns: 1-7
The Browns are once again playing musical chairs at the quarterback position. Does it really matter at this point?
