The daily crush: Elisabeth Hasselbeck

The case for Elisabeth Hasselbeck Ray Gustini

Elisabeth Hasselbeck seems game for just about anything. She ate bugs on a reality show, debated the Iraq war with Rosie O’Donnell and hit the campaign trail with Sarah Palin. She is nothing if not adventurous. Which makes me think she must really hate her job on “The View.”

She co-hosts the morning chat show with Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Barbara Walters and Sherri Shepherd, four professional performers convinced that the medium calls for them to act like anything but professional performers. The result is like a Robert Altman movie — they all mumble and talk over each other and say nothing in particular to indicate their comfort with one another.

Hasselbeck doesn’t play ball. She’s a pistol. She gets aggressive and overwrought when forced to defend her conservative politics. She fires the prepared questions at guests long after the conversation has turned to the mugs they have on set. She leaves the studio for a field report at the drop of a hat.

Finally, somebody who hates this stuff more than you do.

Anyone ever seen Whoopi Goldberg and Asante Samuel in the same room together?

Didn't think so.

I'd love to tell you exactly how I truly feel about little Miss can't be wrong but then you wouldn't post it any way. Why Oh why the View is still on TV is a mystery to me ?

Someone needs to pour Elizabeth a big ole cup of STFU.

I don't think Altman movie characters are like The View co-hosts. The movie characters might talk simultaneously, but at least they appear to be "conversing with* each other. On the other hand, The View co-hosts regularly and simultaneously "screech at" each other.

An Altman movie can be enjoyable and interesting. A group of hungry, cranky toddlers needing their diapers changed behave better than the women on The View. Instead of The View, I'd rather tune in to the sound of fingernails scratching on a blackboard.

She is an idiot. The fact that generally tends to defend the indefensible does not make her smart or clever, it makes her an idiot.

what is the point behind this? She hates "this stuff more than you do?" really? why doesn't she quit then? Of course she won't. She loves being on TV and getting the attention, etc. What a load of crap, Ray. Let's stick to football, please.

FAIL

I opened this link just to see what this was about. Never again. NFP's new re-design is fantastic, but this is crap.

Stick to the football.

Golly.... you guys need to relax...

It is called the "Daily Jolt." Hence, it isn't about FOOTBALL.... but go ahead, leave your egotistical comments.

Ever heard of Extra Mustard over at SI.com? It is all babes and nothing football....

Ray, you forget that she has stated she actually makes her husband schedule an appointment to take care of business. Between that and her intestinal problems you just know she is one cold fish.

I can get behind a NFP page for tangentially-related football material (like Extra Mustard) but this post is simply a disguise for some political grandstanding by Ray Gustini.

The only non-political line is the beginning, "Elisabeth Hasselbeck seems game for just about anything. She ate bugs on a reality show..." From there, it's all about how Hasselbeck takes on those pesky liberals.

"Hasselbeck doesn’t play ball. She’s a pistol." -- give me a break.
